{Get Stranded In Napa: The Stranded Society Clothing + Wine Tasting Guide}

This week's post is your guide to getting stranded for a weekend in Napa! A year ago I took a leap of faith and started chronicling my outfits, where I liked to taste wine, where I liked to eat and if I were you, where I would stay when visiting this gorgeous little place I call HOME! The Napa Valley can be an intimidating place as a first timer, just like the world of blogging! A lot of folks never make it to Napa out of fear and intimidation of not knowing what to do, where to go and who to trust for advice! Trips are a special thing and if you are anything like me, a planner, then you want to make sure its going to be perfect! When it comes to blogging, of course I wanted to make everything perfect right out of the gate, but I had no idea what I was doing and honestly, I still don't! But I am learning, tweaking and listening and that's whats most important!

So when I was approached by a small student ran company out of the upper northwest, it spoke to my inner soul ! They took a leap of faith, out of a school project they created this adorable line of mens and women's t-shirts, sweaters, cell phone cases, tanks, called The Stranded Society ! If you are planning a trip to Napa, their whole motto. "The best adventures in life usually come when you get STRANDED," totally applies to any trip in Napa...ask the veterans who make a trek here multiple times a year, its all about the off the beaten path hidden gem wineries, that you literally stumble upon.....and sometimes if your relying on Uber to get you around you literally will get stranded LOL....I digress.....I also suggest hiring a driver! ha!

When it comes to fashion, as you know I prefer things of a comfy nature, girly and sometimes with a little flair (almost all the time with flair - who am I kidding?)! You can find me living in this sweater in bright white and adorned with flower power, it's cute enough to dress down or up. I styled with a pair of jeans over the knee boots and my new QUAY rose gold shades (Thanks Wunder Boutique!)... I absolutely LOOOOOOOOVE my sweater and my other favorite piece, their paisley cell phone cover - so adorable. They have multiple styles and I am probably going to re-order the smoking pineapple one here pretty soon! Use code VINELIVING...... and receive a 15% discount on your own case and or sweater, tank, tee.....their stuff is the perfect mens gift, we all know men love a t-shirt or sweatshirt - especially if the intention is to wear it somewhere special so the two of you can get STRANDED! Check their site HERE!! Don't forget to use code VINELIVING for 15% off any order......

Now for the Napa Guide Part!! I wanted to dispel the rumors about certain places most tourists are recommended to visit and let you know MY opinion, if they really are a trap or if it's worth the wait. Sometimes there are alternatives that are so much better, but sometimes you just have to wait! Kind of like a good handbag right? Go cheap for the look, or wait and save for the real thing? The question is, is it worth the wait?!

1. Oakville Grocery: Located in Oakville (DUH), one of the original grocery stores in the Napa Valley. Their parking lot is always full, its one of the only stops for lunch between Yountville and St. Helena (where you can grab a quick lunch). I would say YES, definitely include it on your list, you can grab amazing food, gifts to take home, they have picnic area AND if your wanting to taste wine - Durant and Booth is right next door (owned by the same group)....

Include : YES

Alternatives: Sunshine Market (St. Helena), Yountville Deli (Yountville), Palisades (Calistoga) and Genova Deli (Napa)...or for BBQ in Carneros The Shed!

2. Castello di Amorosa "The Castle": This is literally a castle that was built out of original stone from a castle in Italy. It is definitely a place to see, but I will warn, if you are a VERY serious collector, I would spring for their VIP Cheese and Wine experience, that way you can bypass the tourists just there because they are too cheap to take their kids to Disneyland!

Include: Skip It - unless you REALLY want to deal with the masses of NV travelers.

Alternatives: Sterling Vineyards (they have a tram that takes you up to their tasting room from the parking lot - at least its a ride vs. just walking around the castle), Robert Mondavi (actual historic tour of the NV wine industry and where we have been, where we are now), and another great alternative Hess Collection (amazing art gallery that you can view and gorgeous wines).

3. Rutherford Grill: this restaurant has been around for ages, popular for their "French Dip" sandwich, Spinach Dip Appetizer, Corn Bread and many many more items. They recently opened a sister restaurant in Yountville called R+D Kitchen (totally different menu, but always consistent and delicious) and the wait there is a little less. It is totally worth the wait, every time! Always delicious, great service and they don't charge a corkage fee, so bring any bottle/s you want !!

Include: YES YES YES

Alternatives: R+D Kitchen, Mustards Grill, Bistro Don Giovannis....

4. Domaine Chandon: when it comes to Sparkling wine, we have a few big hitters in the valley; Shramsberg, Mumm, Domaine Carneros and Domaine Chandon, they are all delicious in their own right and make some beautiful wines. I would like to think that Domaine Chandon is probably the most well known out of the group, they are nationally and internationally distributed and owned by Louis Vuitton (partly why I am using them as an example), they also have a stellar property that is open to the public and very inviting! They offer light bites and a myriad of wines - still and sparkling - but mostly sparkling! While they are very busy on weekends, I recently had a lovely time sitting on their chairs overlooking the valley, sipping some bubbles and eating truffle popcorn!

Include: Yes

Alternatives: Domaine Carneros, Schramsberg, Mumm...

Outfit Details HERE:  Joes Jeans similar, Sweatshirt (stranded society), Cell phone case (stranded society), OTK Boots HERE  (MAJOR SALES!!) and Henri Bendel Bag HERE (PS - SOME STYLES ON MAJOR SALE!!)!

I hope you enjoy my suggestions and please know, these are not sponsored thoughts, just my own!
